Two OSCPA members appointed to the Accountancy Board

Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed two OSCPA members to the Accountancy Board who also previously sat on OSCPA’s Board of Directors.

Keenan P. Cooper, CPA, of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.) has been appointed to the Accountancy Board for a term beginning Oct. 27, 2023, and ending Oct. 20, 2030. Cooper graduated cum laude from University of Cincinnati’s Lindner College of Business with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. In the years since graduating, he earned his CPA license and now serves clients in the IT audit area at Grant Thornton.   Cooper also came to the accounting profession via a non-traditional path so brings an understanding to the ABO of the many routes toward licensure of current and future CPAs:  he served our nation as an intelligence analyst with the U.S. Army Reserves, including combat deployment in Afghanistan.

Jessie C. Wright, CPA, Ph.D., of Poland (Mahoning Co.) has been appointed to the Accountancy Board for a term beginning Oct. 27, 2023, and ending Oct. 20, 2030. She is a graduate of Youngstown State University and now serves as an assistant professor in the Williamson College of Business Administration at YSU. She also works as a supervisor at Schroedel, Scullin & Bestic, CPAs & Strategic Advisors. Previously, she worked as a senior accountant in the manufacturing industry. Wright served as chair of OSCPA’s Young CPA program in Youngstown for two years, and then as the statewide chair of the Society’s Young CPA Leadership Board for two additional years.  She will also bring the perspective of an accounting educator to the ABO’s table, an important role when considering the significant challenges the CPA profession faces with filling the professional pipeline.
