If CPAs are among the most hardworking, creative, entrepreneurial, and ethical professionals out there, how is it that some find themselves in ethical hot water?
Vincent J. Nardone, J.D., LL.M. in Taxation, a popular speaker at OSCPA events, poses that question in the May/June issue of CPA Voice. He says sometimes the root cause is interpersonal: choosing to work with a jerk. Nardone warns to beware of people who exhibit:
“Do we want these types of folks as our clients, just because they generate funds for us and pay us to do their work? These are the folks who cause tax-return preparers to: (i) turn their head; (ii) not ask questions; (iii) take positions on tax returns that do not have a reasonable basis; or, among other things, (iv) perform some other tasks that may rise to the level of criminality.”
