The Ohio Society of CPAs Nominating Committee has unanimously recommended Rick Fedorovich, CPA, of Akron as the 2023-2024 chair-elect candidate of the Board of Directors. He will serve as the Board’s Chair during the 2024-2025 year and then the Past Chair the following year.
Libby Cullins, CPA, will become Chair of the Board of Directors and Craig Marshall, CPA, will become Past Chair. Current Board Member Jessie C. Wright, CPA, CGMA, CVA will remain in the role of Vice Chair, Finance.
Meet the Chair-Elect and new members of the Board of Directors:
Chair Elect: Rick Fedorovich, CPA, Executive Chairman, Bober Markey Fedorovich
Rick serves privately held, middle-market, high-growth clients in a variety of industries. Specifically, he has extensive experience working with closely held and family-owned businesses and their attendant issues including succession planning, merger and acquisition transactions, tax planning, employee stock ownership plans and estate planning. As managing partner, Rick delivers high level and advisory services to the firm’s clients providing strategic planning, best practices and serves as an adviser to boards of directors.
Rick was with KPMG Peat Marwick from 1974 until 1980 when he joined Bober Markey Fedorovich. Rick was elected partner in 1982 and managing partner in 1996. He transitioned to Executive Chairman in January 2021.
A graduate with honors from the University of Akron, he has volunteered for numerous organizations, including the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, the Cleveland Clinic, the AICPA and OSCPA.
New Director nominees:
Brandi Carson, CPA
Director of Finance and Accounting at La-Z-Boy Incorporated
In her current role as Director of Finance and Accounting for La-Z-Boy Inc. in Toledo, Brandi is responsible for the accuracy of financial information for the company’s residential division, financial analysis, establishing and maintaining internal controls, and the development of her team. Prior to joining La-Z-Boy, Brandi worked with several other large publicly traded companies in the Toledo area where she led the accounting functions, all internal/external controls audits, continuous improvement initiatives, budget development, forecasting, and preparation of annual capital, financial and strategic plans. Selected from a field of 163 candidates, Brandi was the recipient of the 2016 “20 Under 40” leadership recognition award in Toledo. She has been engaged in OSCPA’s CPA Camp program and has a natural passion for ensuring those around her have the right information, so they are better equipped for success.
Courtney Clark, CPA
Tax Partner, Deloitte
Courtney is a Multistate Tax Services Partner in Deloitte's Columbus office, specializing in the real estate industry, including state taxation opportunities specific to REIT and fund structures. Her background includes 10 years of federal taxation experience, approaching multistate concerns with a greater understanding of the Internal Revenue Code, especially Subchapters K, M and S, allowing her to successfully align state tax considerations with federal tax planning, including navigating and advising on complicated Partnership Agreements. Community involvement is important to Courtney. As the lead of the Deloitte Columbus Office Corporate Citizenship Committee, she has led record-breaking United Way, Pelotonia and Impact Day campaigns.
