OSCPA announces 2021-2022 board nominees

The Ohio Society of CPAs Nominating Committee has unanimously recommended Craig Marshall, CPA, of Plain City as the 2021-2022 chair-elect candidate of the Executive Board. He will serve as the Board’s Chair during the 2022-2023 and then the past Chair the following year. 

The committee welcomes new nominee A’Shira Nelson, CPA, of Cleveland to the board to a three-year term. 

Lori Kaiser, CPA, MBA, CGMA, will become Chair of the Executive Board and Crystal Faulkner, CPA, CExP, MAFF, will become past chair. Current Board Member Chris Igodan Jr., CPA, will remain as Vice Chair, Finance. 

Meet the chair-elect, vice chair of finance and new Executive Board members: 


Chair Elect: Craig Marshall, CPA 

Assurance Partner, Central Region, Ernst & Young 

Craig Marshall is an assurance partner in EY’s National Risk Management Practice as the Central Region’s Independence Consultant. He previously served as Ernst & Young’s Columbus Office Managing Partner for nearly 11 years. He has more than 30 years of experience serving the manufacturing and service industries. Much of his experience involves SEC reporting and multinational and multi-location manufacturers. He previously served as the Ohio Valley Risk Advisory Services Leader. Craig serves as chair of OSCPA’s Statewide Endorsement Committee and serves as a member of board of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and the advisory boards of School of Business and the Accounting Department at the University of Dayton and the Fisher College of Business Accounting Department at The Ohio State University. He previously served on the boards of the United Way of Central Ohio, the Greater Columbus Sports Commission Board of Commissioners, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, The Women for Economic and Leadership Development Advisory Board, Ohio Facilities Commission member, Goodwill Industries Board, Junior Achievement of Miami Valley Board and a member of the Columbus Partnership. Craig was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Columbus by Smart Business Columbus. He received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Dayton, an MBA from Columbia University and completed the Executive Scholars Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. 

Vice-Chair Finance: Chris Igodan, Jr., CPA 


Vice President-Investments Controller, Nationwide Insurance 

Chris Igodan, Jr., leads the Nationwide Financial Expense PM&A, Financial Operations and Sales Compensation teams. In his previous role, Chris led the Investment Controllership team which included investments accounting and reporting, analysis and accounting internal controls, monitoring investment risks, and ensuring compliance with regulations and accounting standards. Chris joined Nationwide in 2010 and has held various roles with increasing responsibility within Controllership. These roles included leading life insurance and broker dealer accounting operations, where he served as the FINOP for the broker dealers and leading the Investment Advisory, Derivatives & Commercial Mortgage Loans teams. Before joining Nationwide, Chris started his career in the audit practice at PwC and served clients primarily in the Financial Services industry. Chris is a CPA and a graduate of The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in Accounting and Finance. Additionally, he is a member of OSCPA’s Finance Committee, The Ohio CPA Foundation Board of Trustees and the National Association of Black Accountants Columbus Professional Chapter. 



A’Shira Nelson, CPA 


Tax Manager, Apple Growth Partners 

A’Shira Nelson is a Tax Manager at Apple Growth Partners Cleveland. With a decade of experience in tax, and accounting roles, she partnered with a coworker and recently created a Black business initiative within her firm. The initiative focuses on business development and helping to eliminate some of the barriers uniquely experienced by black owned businesses. A’Shira is also the founder of “Savvy Girl Money,” a social media community with 17,000 Instagram followers and 1,500 YouTube subscribers focused on helping millennial women reach their financial goals. She was named one of Crain’s Cleveland Forty Under 40 recipients in 2020. A’Shira served as the treasurer of both the Delta Sigma Theta sorority and the National Association of Black Accountants. She is a volunteer for the College Now mentoring program and Growing Up Great.
