How to change the email address associated with your PTIN

Written on Sep 26, 2017

The IRS is preparing to accept Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) renewals for 2018 and reminding tax professionals that while you are required to provide an email address for PTIN communications, the email address is not required to be your company email. It only has to be an email account that you check regularly for PTIN communications.

Some tax professionals have expressed concerns about the misuse of their company email, an increased potential for identity theft or cyber intrusions and scams related to email. To change the email address on your PTIN account, select “Edit Login Information” at the top right corner of the Main Menu and follow the prompts.
