ODT hosts free Virtual Tax Academy Feb. 21

Centralized municipal income tax filing and administration will be a top topic Feb. 21 when the Ohio Department of Taxation hosts its annual Ohio Virtual Tax Academy.

The academy is a free, half-day learning event designed for tax professionals, small businesses and anyone interested in learning how to interact effectively with Ohio’s tax system.

Senior staff from the department will discuss a variety of topics such as:

  • Municipal Net Profits - the Department of Taxation’s role in administering the municipal net profit tax.
  • Oil & Gas – sales and use tax implications relating to the oil and gas Industry.
  • Local Fund Distributions ­– overview of fund transfers and recent changes to the local government fund transfer process.
  • Federal Conformity – how recent changes to federal law will impact Ohio’s income tax.

The program will run from 8:20 a.m. to noon, and it qualifies for 3.5 C.P.E. credits (pending approval). Learn more.
