Update on extender legislation
The Budget Bipartisan Act of 2018 was signed Feb. 9 and retroactively extended and modified numerous tax provisions covering 2017. The IRS is incrementally updating the needed forms and completing programming and testing of our processing systems to reflect each provision of the legislation.

IRS still can’t verify refundable tax credits
The IRS is still unable to verify claims for refundable tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit before sending out tax refunds, despite legislation in 2015 giving it more time to double-check such claims, according to a new government report.
