OSCPA staff report

The U.S. House Ways and Means Committee is requesting comments to improve IRS operations and tax administration. Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Lynn Jenkins and Ranking Member John Lewis on Monday released a draft of the “Taxpayer First Act,” in an effort to “return the IRS back to its ‘service first’ mission.”

The ten-page section by section summary is available online and comments are requested by Friday, April 6. This discussion draft addresses issues raised by witnesses who have testified before the Subcommittee on how to improve the IRS and incorporates provisions from at least 18 different bills.

If you wish to submit comments, you can email them directly to irsreform@mail.house.gov. OSCPA's Federal Tax Committee also plans to submit comments on your behalf. Please either comment below or email them to Greg Saul, Esq., director of tax policy, gsaul@ohiocpa.com.
