State of Ohio Tax Reform

Ohio CPAs advance tax reform ideas

The Ohio Society of CPAs formed the Ohio Tax Reform Task Force in 2015 to assist Ohio's leaders in evaluating Ohio's tax structure and competitiveness. The group of leading CPAs studied all facets of Ohio tax for many months.

On June 20, 2016, members of the Task Force testified before the 2020 Ohio Tax Policy Study Commission, presenting recommendations for making Ohio's tax structure simpler and a key asset for attracting business to the state.

The Ohio Tax Reform Task Force white paper outlines several areas the state should evaluate, including:

  • Personal income tax
  • Municipal income tax
  • Commercial activity tax
  • Sales & use tax
  • Other state taxes
